happy 3rd!
yes, i know it’s the 4th of july. happy independence day!
“happy 3rd” is for my husband; on this date in 2008, he made me the happiest woman in the world. we exchanged vows in my high school chapel in front of our closest friends and family–we said, “i do.” and more importantly, we said, “i will.”
true, it may be odd that we chose to tie the knot on independence day, but there are some perks. first, we get the day off, no matter what. (yes, we’re both teachers, so we have the whole summer off, but if we ever have to find ourselves employed in the summer, we’ve got the national holiday guarantee.) second, no mail comes on the 4th, so we get to celebrate our anniversary in the days surrounding, every time we receive a card! third, there are always fireworks to watch–i suppose this would not be true if we ever traveled internationally on that day, but, that won’t happen for awhile anyway. fourth, restaurants are very empty on the 4th because everyone’s grilling. fifth, we’ll never forget the date of our wedding. ever.
so, on july 4, 2011, as i do every day, i WILL reaffirm this vow–tim, i will love you and honor you all the days of my life.
